Valuation method
Like any digital production, this website has an environmental impact, which we present on this page using standardized indicators.
We use the EcoIndex standard developed by the GreenIT collective to assess the environmental performance of this website. This is quantified using two types of indicators:
Website eco-design level. This indicator assesses the implementation of best practices to reduce the impact of a web page. The level achieved is represented by a relative evaluation from A to G (A is the best score) combined with an absolute score from 0 to 100 (100 is the best score).
Water consumption and GHG emissions linked to page loading. This indicator quantifies the freshwater consumption ( cls) and GHG emissions ( gCO2e) associated with loading a web page.
For summary purposes, four types of data are represented:
Ecodesign level for the 5 most visited pages of the website
Ecodesign level for 5 typical website user paths
Water consumption (expressed in liters) and GHG emissions (kilos CO2e) linked to the loading of a web page for 1 user, relative to 1,000 users.
Water consumption (expressed in liters) and GHG emissions (kilos CO2e) linked to the execution of a path for 1 user, and related to 1,000 users.
The analysis shown was carried out on , and is subject to change: the quantification of environmental impacts presented below is a snapshot taken at a point in time.

Ecodesign
Ecodesign is based on a methodology and a set of best practices designed to reduce the impact of a website on its environment. In concrete terms, this means limiting the technical resources required to display a page or execute a function, while staying as close as possible to the user’s needs.
Are you a digital professional looking to reduce the environmental impact of your sites? Here are a few best practices to implement:
Some best practices in ergonomics and design
- Limit the number of functionalities at the design stage
- Delete unused functionalities
- Limit the number of carousels
- Choose fonts with reduced weight
- Favor simple, uncluttered designs
- Adopt a mobile-first approach whenever possible
- Prefer pagination to infinite scrolling
- Avoid automatic playback and loading of videos and sounds
- Optimize user paths
Some best practices in content management
- Prefer images to videos
- Limit the number of images on each page
- Optimize image size to target format
- Compress images using a TinyPNG-type tool
- Compress pdf using a tool such as iLovePDF
- Limit the use of animated GIFs
- Prefer glyphs to images
Some good development practices
- Offer asynchronous processing whenever possible
- Use only essential portions of JS and CSS libraries
- Cache frequently-used calculated data
- Limit the number of calls to HTTP APIs
- Reduce the volume of stored data to the strict minimum
- Use the most recent version of the language
- Provide a text-based alternative to multimedia content
- Cut CSS
- Do not modify the DOM when traversing it
- Use lazy loading (lazyload)
- Validate pages with W3C
- Add Expires or Cache-Control headers
- Compress text files: CSS, JS, HTML and SVG
- Set up an efficient sitemap
Some good hosting practices
- Choose an sustainable host
- Install the minimum server requirements
- Rely on managed services
- Optimize server energy efficiency
- Reduce server logs as much as possible
- Apache Vhost: disable AllowOverride
- Use virtualized servers
- Use asynchronous servers
- Store data in the cloud
